Explore the Mediterranean through art and travel Travel Shots – Memories of the Mediterranean is an exhibition that celebrates the shared roots and differences that define the peoples of the Mediterranean, telling stories of exchange, migration, and plural identities.

Each“snapshot” is more than just a photograph: it is a fragment of time, an emotion, a gesture that recounts a ritual that spans generations.
It is a stage in a journey that is not only geographical, but also interior.

By participating in our CALL FOR ARTISTS, you will have the opportunity to be part of a project that explores the Mediterranean as a living mosaic of different cultures that meet, mingle and enrich each other through travel and encounter.
Each work becomes a threshold that invites you to remember, recognize and feel the essence of the other, through images, sounds, objects and words.

EXHIBITION THEMES

We invite artists to submit works that explore one or more of the following themes:

The Mare Nostrum
The sea as boundary and bridge, a metaphor for journey, recognition and hope.
Faces and Hands
Daily portraits and gestures: sewing, praying, cultivating, fishing, hugging
Signs and Symbols
Alphabets, tattoos, decorations, ceramics, ritual objects: the stuff of identity
Rites and Tables
Food, feasts, funerals, dances: what unites and distinguishes
Departures/Returns
Shots of migration, diaspora, exile, nostalgia and return

MODES OF EXPRESSION

We welcome a variety of artistic expressions that tell the story of the Mediterranean: from traditional to more innovative languages. Suggested modes of expression include:

Poems and visual texts in multiple languages of the Mediterranean basin
Visual reinterpretations of objects related to folk folklore
Video testimonials and audio travel narratives
Author and archival photographs reprocessed

WHAT WE OFFER.

5 Exhibition spaces on 85-inch TVs. The location will be the technology room of Manifattura Tabacchi in Cagliari, which will host the “Travel Shots” exhibition curated by the “Holy Club” collective.

Two prizes will be awarded during the “Travel Shots – Memories of the Mediterranean” exhibition:

CRITICS’ AWARD

The jury, composed of Holy Club’s curatorial team, will select the work that best represents the themes and emotions of the exhibition. The jury’s judgment is final. The physical format and material of the print of the winning work will be at the artist’s discretion, thus offering maximum creative freedom for the final realization.

AUDIENCE AWARD

The audience prize will be awarded through an online vote, allowing viewers to express their preference for the work that most engaged them. Again, the physical format and material of the print of the winning work will be at the discretion of the artist, thus offering maximum creative freedom for the final realization.
